Karen M. Meagher, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor in Biomedical Ethics at Mayo Clinic. Her research interests focus on public health ethics and social implications of advances in genomic science and technology. Dr. Meagher’s multidisciplinary training includes moral philosophy, social theory, policy analysis, qualitative, and community-engaged research methods. Dr. Meagher has five years of experience in community engagement for shared governance of biorepository data and specimens. Her current research efforts include projects on ethical, legal, and social implications of genetics, including both human and microbial genetics. Topical expertise includes ethics and infectious disease, biobanking, moral distress, virtue ethics, professionalism, and hospital infection prevention and control.
