Devora Shapiro, PhD (she/her) is Associate Professor in the Department of Social Medicine, at Ohio University's Heritage College of Medicine. Dr Shapiro earned her BA from Johns Hopkins University, an MA in Clinical Medical Ethics from the University of Tennessee, and her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota, and was the 2021-23 Fellow in Advanced Bioethics, at the Cleveland Clinic. She specializes in philosophy of medicine, feminist epistemology and philosophy of science, and clinical medical ethics. Her current work in clinical ethics centers on ethically engaging "complex patients", medical gaslighting, and medical trauma. Dr. Shapiro's work in philosophy of medicine focuses on applying intersectional theory within the context of medical diagnosis and the philosophy of epidemiology. Her previous work includes the articulation of non-propositional accounts of experiential knowledge.
