Esther I. Bernhofer, PHD, MA, RN

I am Esther I. Bernhofer, PhD, MA, RN, PMGT-BC, an Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio with a primary appointment at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and a secondary appointment in the Department of Bioethics in the School of Medicine. My work centers on theory, moral philosophy, the ethics of pain management in vulnerable populations, and values-based decision-making. I have published articles on these and other related topics and have presented locally and nationally on these issues since 2011. My current focus is on projects that highlight interprofessional education in ethics, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with an aim to increase students' understanding of the ethical and moral dimensions of pain for optimal patient care.
