Lena Hatchett PhD is Associate Professor and Director of Community and University Partnerships at Loyola University Chicago, Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics and Healthcare Leadership. She is the co-founder and Executive Lead of Proviso Partners for Health and Chair of the Stewardship Team for 100 Million Healthier Lives Global Initiative. Dr. Hatchett received her BS in Psychology and Black Studies from the State University of New York New Paltz and her MS and PhD in Social and Health Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Since 2000, Dr. Hatchett has held leadership positions focused on creating pathways for health equity through community, institutional, and systemic change. Her public health and racial equity experience includes community-engaged research and capacity building for national entities, including Trinity Health System, Cook County Department of Public Health, and Institute for Healthcare Improvement—as well as regional and local governments.
Dr. Hatchett co-developed the Bioethics Honors and Professionalism program at Loyola, which to date has trained over one hundred and fifty (150) medical students. The program's vision is to develop global leaders who understand the foundations of health equity and have the knowledge, skills, and courage to build more equitable organizations and communities. Proviso Partners for Health is a nationally recognized community-driven coalition with over 25 multi-sector organizations that invest in youth and community assets to generate community health and economic growth. In addition to co-founding Proviso Partners for Health in 2014, Dr. Hatchett is a community catalyst with the Alliance for Health Equity, one of the largest collaborative community health needs assessments in the country. Dr. Hatchett also serves as Chair of the Stewardship Team for 100 Million Healthier Lives initiative for the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
