Miranda Blodgett earned her undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Maine, Orono. She further pursued her education at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where she received a Master of Arts in Bioethics, Spring 2023. In addition, she holds her Healthcare Ethics Consultation Certification (HEC-C).
Miranda’s commitment for driving change and improving processes began during her time at a nonprofit community hospital located about 40 minutes outside of Boston. While working there, she experienced great career development and success taking on many roles at this organization. This organization allowed her to gain practical experience while deepening her understanding of bioethics. Notably, she led a major quality improvement initiative that involved assessing the existing ethics consultation process and devising a strategic plan to enhance the model. Her project encompassed a range of activities, including survey development, data collection, policy revision, staff education, and collaboration with her organizations informatics department to create custom order sets.
Miranda’s commitment to enhancing the patient, family, and staff experience, even within the constraints of limited resources, reflects her passion for fostering an environment conducive to navigating the complex ethical dilemmas that arise during hospital admissions.
Of note, as of March 2024, Miranda has changed organizations and is now employed at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center located in Boston, MA where she is a Clinical Ethicist and Human Rights Officer. In light of this, please note her contact information has changed to reflect this change.
