Elizabeth Sivertsen, MBE, CCRN, HEC-C, is the Clinical Ethicist at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She is board certified in health care ethics consultation and critical care nursing. She fields over 400 ethics consultations a year, providing guidance for complex issues that often involve end of life, mental health, and equity of care concerns. She also serves as an unaffiliated member for the Institutional Review Boards of the Centers of Disease Control and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
Beth holds a bachelor’s in neuroscience from Emory University, a bachelor’s in nursing from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, and a master’s of bioethics from Harvard Medical School. She previously worked as a surgical trauma critical care nurse and served as a member of the ethics committee at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her areas of specialty include clinical ethics consultation, research ethics, neuroethics, and the ethics of care for underserved populations.
