James M. DuBois, DSc, PhD, is the SJ Bander Professor of Medical Ethics and Exectutive Director of the Bioethics Research Center at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.
Trained in philosophy and experimental psychology, his work ranges from normative analyses to empirical studies on a variety of topics including informed consent and communication in healthcare, organ transplantation, sharing qualitative research data, how religion and personal characteristics affect views of genomics and new technologies, and outcomes of ethics education. He has received over $15 million in research and training grants from the National Institutes of Health and other agencies. With Ana Iltis, he is the founding editor of the journal, Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics.
