Ally Peabody Smith is an Assistant Professor at Lehigh University’s College of Health. She is a philosopher and mixed-methods researcher specializing in ethics, philosophy of disability, philosophy of medicine, and bioethics. Her current book project and qualitative research centers non-spoken and meaning-conveying forms of communication crucial to interactions with non-speaking human beings, such as those with profound intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and neurodegenerative diseases. Other research explores the value the philosophical tradition of virtue ethics in research and clinical ethics.
