Lisa Moses, VMD, is a veterinarian and bioethicist at Harvard Medical School and a core faculty member at the HMS Center for Bioethics. She received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and completed a fellowship in bioethics at the Center for Bioethics, Harvard Medical School. She also completed an internship and residency at the Massachusetts Society for the Protection of Animals flagship veterinary hospital, Angell Animal Medical Center. Dr. Moses was a practicing veterinarian for almost three decades specializing in pain medicine and palliative care. Her research, teaching and writing is split between two main areas: animal focused research ethics and veterinary medical ethics. Dr. Moses’ current bioethical areas of interest are biodiversity conservation research ethics, moral distress and non-beneficial care in veterinary medicine, and non-human animal concerns in xenotransplantation research. She was awarded the Henry Beecher Prize for Master’s Student Ethics Teaching in 2022.
