Jeremy R. Garrett, PhD (he/him/his), is Research Faculty in Bioethics at Children's Mercy Kansas City and Professor of Pediatrics and Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Garrett received his PhD in Philosophy from Rice University where he served for several years as Managing Editor of the Journal of Medicine and Philosophy. His areas of research interest include pediatric bioethics, genetic and genomic ethics, and the historical, methodological, and philosophical foundations of bioethics. Dr. Garrett has published more than 50 journal articles and book chapters and has edited books on the ethics of animal research and the historical development of bioethics in the United States. Within his roles at Children Mercy Kansas City, he is the Program Director for the Pediatric Ethics Fellowship, organizes the hospital’s monthly Ethics Brown Bag Workshop Series, and serves on the hospital Ethics Committee, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and Institutional Human Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee. Outside the hospital, Dr. Garrett is a member of multiple Data and Safety Monitoring Boards for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Medicine and Philosophy.
