Margie H. Shaw, JD, PHD, MA, HEC-C

Margie Hodges Shaw is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Humanities & Bioethics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, director of the clinical ethics program, and chair of the Strong Memorial Hospital Ethics Committee. She teaches about clinical judgment and decision-making, the intersection of law and patient care, and bioethics.

Dr. Shaw received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from North Carolina State University (1987). She received her J.D. from Cornell University Law School (1991), her MA in Philosophy from the University of Rochester (2004) and her Ph.D. in Thought, Policy, and Leadership in Higher Education from the University of Rochester (2011). She completed her Fellowship in Clinical Ethics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2012.
