Dany Lamothe, M.D. is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in Stanford University's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences. He earned his medical degree from Laval University in Quebec, Canada, and completed his psychiatry residency at Sherbrooke University. Dr. Lamothe further pursued a master’s degree in the Philosophy of Medicine and Psychiatry at King’s College London, focusing his dissertation on the evolution of the diagnoses of somatoform disorders. After completing a Consult-Liaison Psychiatry fellowship at Stanford in 2021, he joined the Division of Medical Psychiatry in 2022. He is now a regular attending physician on the inpatient psychiatry consult service and the emergency psychiatry service, for which he has been the Medical Director since 2022. Since January 2024, Dr. Lamothe has served as the lead attending psychiatrist in the Gastrointestinal Health Clinic, specializing in functional gastrointestinal disorders. Clinically, Dr. Lamothe focuses on the treatment of patients with somatic symptom disorder, functional disorders, chronic pain, or trauma-related disorders. His areas of interest also include brief psychotherapeutic interventions, the role of emotions in health and illness, suicide prevention interventions, as well as medical education, clinical skills, and interviewing.
