The Department of Bioethics at Case Western Reserve continues its mission to provide excellent education and contribute outstanding research and scholarship. As the first Department of Bioethics in a medical school, the Department offers an Undergraduate Minor, MA in Bioethics and Medical Humanities, and a PhD in Bioethics, in addition to MD training and an MD pathway in humanities. We emphasize the diversity and multi-disciplinary nature of the fields by providing advanced training for students and professionals who will encounter bioethical and humanistic issues in the course of their varied careers, including medicine, law, research, bioethics, humanities, policy, psychology, social work, and many more. Through research and scholarship, the Department provides local, regional, and national service to health professionals, policy makers, and the public. It promotes international bioethical dialogue through research collaborations, training programs, and institutional partnerships.
